HU Chien BIO
Since 2007, HU Chien has been the main character in nearly all of HUANG Yi’s works up to the present.
From 2012 to 2013, he was a dancer for Cloud Gate 2.
In 2013, HU Chien was invited to play the male lead in the microfilm “Immortelle” by Dutch director David Verbeek. This film was nominated for the Spectrum Shorts category at the Rotterdam Film Festival and the 2013 Golden Horse Film Festival Taiwan Shorts section. It was co-produced by Canjune International Co., Ltd.
In 2014, he was honored to be invited as a co-founder of HUANG Yi Studio.
In 2015, at the 3LD Art & Technology Center in New York, “HUANG Yi & KUKA” made its world premiere, marking the commencement of an international tour. This journey took him to Austria, the United States, Switzerland, Australia, the Arab countries, Singapore, Poland, Korea, Canada, the Netherlands, Hungary, and other locations, spanning 17 countries and 32 cities, with a total of 78 international performances.
In 2018, HU Chien went to Chaillot National Theater in France(Chaillot Théâtre national de la Danse)for a residency to collaboratively develop the second phase of “Objects.”
In 2019, with his choreographic work “A Place Belongs To You And Me,” he was selected from over five hundred global entries for the finals of the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. It was then presented at Songshan Lab New Director’s Festival, where its warm and unique vocabulary deeply touched the audience.
In 2021, he founded HU’s Project, a cooperative society. Its first video dance work, “Last Kiss,” won the Bronze Award in the Ministry of Culture’s “Online Micro-Performance Selection Project,” marking a new stage in creation and performance.
In 2021, he embarked on an international collaboration series in choreography and performance with +10.加拾+JUBILEE, titled “Tenuous Like You, Tenuous Like Me, Heart To Heart.”
In 2022, “Red” received support from the Ministry of Culture for online broadcasting and physical presentation, earning high acclaim from audiences.
Also in 2022, “Blueness” was publicly screened at Eslite Cinema. This marked HU Chien’s first dance video work to be shown in a cinema, and it was very well received by the audience.
HU Chien has performed in HUANG Yi’s works including “SPIN,” “Whisper,” “Double Yellow Line,” “Lost for Words,” “Wicked Fish,” “Second Skin,” “HUANG Yi & KUKA,” “Under the Horizon,” “Sand,” “A Million Miles Away,” “Little Ant & Robot Café,” “Ink,” “Voices,” “Objects” and others.
